custom headlight covers/ wade covers/ flush mounted.

I know of a few that did flsuh covers for e36's
But has anyone done SEALED' covers?

I finally got some wade covers(Big thanx to Craig) and they cover the headlight AND corner. My corners are already have the lense removed for clear acrylic covers that I ghetto screwwWed in place.

Basically my mission is to make a corner and headlamp one unit, seal and pretty!

Any tips about working plastic and sealing would be nice.

Yes,

James92SE did it not long ago and has by far the best most factory looking install. He did it like Craig and I though and cut the corner cover off.

Brandon90GXE and Alex (spyhunter something or nother on here) did it like you are talking about. I think Brandon sealed his as well but I cant remember. To me they didnt look right as one piece but with a little work you can make them look great.

GRNMAXDMON 03-17-2005 02:21 PM

goon9 03-17-2005 02:41 PM

nice clean job, what did u use to "seal" the covers to the light??
and where do you guys get your Wade covers from??

goon9 03-17-2005 08:12 PM

Yeah i just finished reading your article you posted. Look really tight man!

But, your max is dressed up a lil different than mine. What I'm thinking about doing is using the wade cover to make the corner and headlamp one. that means double the sealing. heh....
I want to change the corner though.
1.rewire the little 944 bulb into a real bright amber led, An led so no chance of melting the cover.
2. remove the 'turn' bulb and replace it with a projection lens and h3 bulb to ONLY light up when singoled to one direction or the other.
Paint the inside of the corner black. Because the housing of my headlight are black(thier the halo projectors.)

And possible lightly smoke the entire assembly.

I did a little work on the corners. I replaced that daul filiment bulb with a pilot projector fog light! BWhahah. Reason being, I wanted a black housing like my projector headlights. But the problem with using the originol bulb was the light wouldn't reflect off the black and light up the outside. A fog will light it up and then some. It will only be on when I'm signoled to the side. If that wasn't clear. If i signol right, then only the right side projector in the corner will turn on. here's some pics.

Original but what if you were on the highway changing lanes you would blind any oncomming traffic.

goon9 03-18-2005 06:38 PM

Their aimed at angle so it will defiently not shine higher that the headlights by far.

Cliff Clavin 03-18-2005 07:53 PM

very creative. Are the projector fogs yellow, though? It kind of looks that way in the second pic.

goon9 03-18-2005 09:11 PM

Depending on the reflection their yellow, blue, and clear. When illuminated their yellow. I think if I make my halo's yellow it'll match up fine.

tripleGmax 03-18-2005 09:44 PM

i thought those headlight covers only covered the headlights.....hence the name headlight covers....

correct me if im wrong. Im just waiting to do this this summer. well atleast the headlights all flush and junk.

mtnbikeair 03-19-2005 05:25 AM

Where can you get the headlight covers? I looked thru the thread, i might have missed it, but im not sure i saw where..

goon9 03-19-2005 05:57 AM

http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/pe...rand_year=1990

They cover the headlight and corner.

tripleGmax 03-19-2005 06:15 AM

no offense to anyone.... but i think the big a$$ orange corner is ugly, I think tinted corners would look way better IMO

The way they come, they cover the headlight and corner. But most of us that have used them just cut off the corner part

goon9 03-19-2005 06:56 AM

I'm just too lazy to cut off the corner.

I think it could look good the way you're doing it since you had the corners cut apart before anyway

goon9 03-19-2005 07:52 AM

we will see, my only concern is I might not have a very good bonding surface for the lense, i'll get more pics up later today.

It might not look as good as tinted/UK corners, but it looks a lot better than a stock or clear corner, I should know..I have my one projector in and the clear corner next to it looks really tacky, I plan on painting my bumper signals amber (I have some of that stained-glass paint) and might do the corners until I get some UK/tinted ones..

tripleGmax 03-19-2005 10:25 AM

1992maxman or brian or whatever his name is i think is selling his uk corners for 120...not sure if they sold yet or not.

Ahhh! Sealed headlight covers?! How did you do it? With fiberglass?

therealgoon: those corners look really cool. Wish I had that grade of fabrication skill...
