I snaked it from the battery, through the fender, then into a harness nipple. It takes a little patience, but I prefer the resulting 'clean' look. Wires with wires. A lot of others use the hood cable. Half a dozen one, five the other.

I have the clarion system in my 93 gxe. I was wondering if and where i can find a wiring schematic for the amp that is mounted under the rear deck. I dont know if there is an easy bypass? If not i guess i will have to run new wires from the headunit back.

I have power bass 6 1/2 components all the way around but havent hooked the back up yet, and i am running a kenwood head unit.

Thanks,Jon

same problem here i bought a 92 maxima, the stock clarion hu was blown, and the rear speakers were ripped. So i replaced the Hu with a cheap sony Xplod, no problem there i get sound out of the front speakers now, but when i connect the new rear speakers i get nothing. I'm not sure what to do.
i wouldve asked in a new thread but i can't start topics for some reason

only problem i see is that the plastic rectangular trim might not fit completely. i had that problem on my 3rd gen with a kenwood deck. the plastic trim did not fit in correctly.

Anyone actually know the dimensions of the opening for an deck in the dashboard?

I want to buy one off ebay but I have to be sure that it fits before I purchase it.

I think it's width 7in height 2in and depth 6 3/8. Will that fit?

It's different than the one I pointed out before, it's the Alpine CDA-9857. Thanks again.

I don't have the bose system if it matters.

when buying a CD player its not measured by the deminsions like you stated.

In dash units are measured by Din, Din and a half and double din. you can fit any in dash unit because our opening is a double din. If you get a single din (standard radio size) it will work fine if you have the factory cup holder or drawer under it. If you went with a double din then you would remove that cup holder or tray. If you went with a din and a half then you would have to fill the half din spot with a filler piece or half din crossover.

edit: that CD player you mentioned is a single din. It will fit fine.

Thank you, It gets confusing for someone of my noobyness. All the websites say it doesn't fit yet when I look at it, it fits.

Same for my speakers all the websites say it doesn't fit but when I ask people and size it up myself it fits.

So confusing.

Hello everyone! I need some help to figure out this Bose system in the Maximas. I have an 89 Maxima, The back speakers work but it makes this really annoying noise. I bought a new deck and two new 6X9 pioneers speakers, the deck fit perfectly and i install the speakers no problem, but the problem still there!!!! this Bose systems is really complicated so before i go crazy and just start tearing wires out, can someone give me an idea of what this issue it may be, and how i could fix it? The front speakers are ok, but the back ones sound as if they were blown when they are not and make this squeeky like noise. Any help will be appreciated. THANK YOU AND SORRY FOR THIS LONG COMMENT!

Little help bypassing the rear Clarion amp in a 94 GXE

OK. I've been waiting for an audio thread to ask this super noobie question so here goes:

I have the non-bose "active speaker" system. I put in a new HU (first time I've done it myself) and only the front speakers are working. Pretty sure this is because I did not get power to the Clarion amp when I hooked up all the wires to the wiring harness but screw it, I want to bypass that thing anyway. I think that's why I never liked the sound after I replaced the stock stuff. The Best Buy installers hooked up my Sony deck to the Clarion amp so the rear speakers were being double amplified I'm guessing. All I know is that the rear speakers were always way louder then the fronts and no matter how much I tweeked the balance I never got the sound the way I wanted it.

Anyway, I digress.

I want to run new wires to the rears straight from the HU. So, (and here comes the noobie part) what is the best path to run the wires back there? I don't want to rip up more stuff than I have to.

P.S. I had to put in an installation kit so I went ahead and got a 1/2 DIN amplifier/equalizer to fill that little 1/2 DIN opening. It's just a cheap little thing but it has a CD input that I can hook my iRiver straight into. That's another reason I want to just bypass the Clarion amp in the back.

Hey what is going on everybody. I have the bose system in my car with a pioneer head unit. It was in there when i got the car almost a year ago. For the longest time i just assumed that i had the bose set up and then upon closer inspection i realized that they were in fact mono speakers. This summer i am going to try and replace all of my speakers and my deck. I am also going to install a sub or too and then an amp or two. Is this going to be a difficult task. I am new to installing sound systems. Im sure that i could get some help. Id jsut really like to get a nice sounding ride. Any suggestions.

I believe you have to remove the rear seat and then take off the back 'parcel shelf' to remove the non-bose speakers.

i went and asked about mine. Since it's BOSE there's an AMP behind the head unit, which if you want to install aftermarket speakers, that AMP needs to be bypassed, or a harness needs to be installed. Forget paying someone else to do this, does anyone have any links on more information on this, and the BOSE system in a 3rd gen Maxima?
Ive already tried some speakers I have around, they didnt work. Different omh rating than the BOSE systems.
Before I do all this, im going to fiddle with the stock radio, and see if I cant fix it myself. Since BOSE working proper should sound pretty damn good. But if the amps are completely shot, I gotta find out where to by a harness to bypass its amp.

I'd suggest you donate and search we've covered it several times before.
replace the head unit and speakers. get a manual that covers the factory stereo, and you'll see how to wire it so it all works right.

the rear speakers...

i want to put in Infinity 692.7i speakers into where the rear bose speakers used to be. i want to install it myself but don't know what to do... so far i have unscrewed the bose speakers(they are hanging on the red and black wires) do i have to splice the red and black wires to my infinity unit? also, what is the black box next to the speakers(in the trunk, but on the same plastic unit as the speakers(the red and black wires come from this))? finally, how do i change the bose grill for my infinity grill? i tried to be as specific as possible cause i'm extremely frustrated. is there anyone that can help me out? (pictures would be awesome)

are you still using the factory BOSE H/U?
if you are then don't use those speakers or damage will result.

don't use the red and black. They power the bose amps. There is a 4-pin connector that goes into the small black boxes on the speaker brackets. If you cut the tape/jacket around those wires, you will see 4 wires. 2 signal wires, and the red and black power wires.

I cut the two signal wires and put quick disconnects on them, and then ran two wires also with disconnects into the speaker. If I were to do it again, I would not splice the wires. Instead I would have taken apart the bracket and used the terminals inside the small amp housing to run wires to the speakers. You always pay for being lazy. I really regret that move...

Speakers Do Not Work

I own a '94 Maxima and my speakers recently just stopped working (the back speakers of course with the good base) as well as the radio. I think it's a ground wire, but i'm not sure.

Has anyone upgraded to a later generation BOSE head unit? I found a company selling plug-n-play adapter harnesses. Just wondering if anyone has done it.

When I tried to install my Sony headunit into my 93 (Bose), the headunit would turn on and play, but I couldnt get any sound? Could this be because of the amps? There was a Pioneer radio installed previously and it worked fine.

wierd the the pioneer worked and the sony wont

however they are both crap

still using the bose speakers? new speakers arent that expensive
last time i saw them at walmart it was like $50 for 4" and 6x9 pairs, thats total. i know those are crap but if your gonna risk blowing your HU with bose crap
new speakers + new speaker wire is always best as opposed to modifying the bose setup at all...senior members should know this

Can someone tell me why my rear Bose speakers don't work? The moment I connect them, the fuse blows. I am out of ideas.
