I was reading one of the boards about a guy needing to replace his tranny @109k, and about the stock cooler being in the radiator, and about crud in the radiator. Here's my story,....... About 6 weeks ago, I noticed some rust on the inside of my radiator cap and right inside the neck of the radiator. I bought some Prestone flush stuff, and planned to use it but just haven't gotten around to it. It seems to me that it is OK, I don't have any problems, but I do occasionally notice a heated smell when I run the car hard. My question to you guys is whether or not you recommend using this stuff? BTW, I have 205k on my car, and as far as I know, it's the original tranny, and I use Dexron IV.

Unless you change the coolant every year or two, running a flush is a very good idea. Deposits in the cooling system can decrease its efficency by 20%, or more. It will also cause increased wear of the water pump.
