I have a '92 SE 5 Speed. I have to replace the clutch soon and I was looking into lightening the flywheel while the tranny is down. I heard that taking weight out of the flywheel may cause it to warp and I shouldn't have it done if I drive the car everyday. I am worried about this because I put close to 30K/yr on this car. Also, can anyone suggest a high performance clutch replacement. I was thinking of getting a Centerforce with 30% increased grip, it is fairly inexpensive (only $30.00 more than a stock Nissan clutch), but I heard they suck and that I would probably burn it out in no time.

Thanks,
jp

Stillen (www.stillen.com) sells a lightened flywheel, or you can go to an EXPERIENCED shop to have your stock one shaved. Jeff92se had his done. IIRC he had about 4-6 lbs. shaved off safely. The flywheel can become weakened if too much is removed. Take it to a trusted shop.

I had mine shave 3-4 lbs and have the centerforce clutch. Cant give you much advice only driven 1000 miles. I dont have to down shift to first at stop signs that a roll thru it has more pick up
