injectors

Hey, recently I had a nissan tech check out my car, and tell me that my #2 injector is failing. How do I tell which injector is #2? I would have asked the tech, but I wasn't there when he was looking over my car. Also, is there a way to test each individual injector to see whether it is bad or not? My car doesn't always seem like the injector is bad, they like to go in and out as they please. Would that make testing the injector harder? I have 6 used injectors from my old engine, I'd like to find out if those are bad before replacing my bad injector with one of them

are you feeling power loss whenever you start to drive, if so he may me right. you will know when it goes out. because
1) your check engine light would come on
2) you will feel it, because it would be like driving on 5 cylinder's

The number 2 injector is on the front bank furthest to the left. Back row (firewall) being 1, 3, 5 (left to right). Front being 2, 4, 6.
A good injector should test between 10 and 14 ohms.
True to some extent what markmaxima said about it feeling like 5 cylinders, but that doesn't mean the injector itself is failing because the injector is bad. A cylinder might also not fire due to a bad injector harness, plugs, wires, etc...

1. wrong, I had 3 out with no CEL
2. correct

3. there are cases where they start and stop when they please, mine did that to me a month or 2 back. then it started working fine so I didn't replace it. (had them all ready to replace)

oh and you check the injector electrically to measure 10-14 ohms

Yeah, I was also on 3 injectors with no CEL. Are they even suppose to come on during messed up injectors?

wow, thats great advice, thanks guys! one more question, when using a multi meter (im assumign thats what you use to test them). where do you connect the negative and where do you connect the positive needles? What settings should the Multi meter be on?

on the front injectors you just touch the 2 prongs on the injector with your meter set to ohms.
the rears have a harness by the throttle body to test them at IIRC

Make sure that ohm readings for all injectors are within "factory" range and within 0.4 ohm difference from each other too. But if you take measurements without disconnecting injectors (i.e. without cleaning contacts) you might get faulty readings too. In order words:
- good injectors but bad wire harness;
- good injectors but injectors and/or harness contacts require cleaning;
- and finally bad injector(s).

I'm replacing all injectors right now (waiting for warmer weather). I bought a used set on ebay still in fuel rails. All injectors are 12.3 ohm:

They are black dot

PS: number of the injector is on rotor cap (just follow the wire)
