was lookin up ignition coils and this is what i found...

Looks like you have to add your own extensions. Which is what I wanted to know. ie. if the coil body and extensions can be taken arpart. Which I think is the case.

Gee giligers batman how do they do that...


anyone bought new ignition coils from autozone? do they come like the pic above? or with boot extension and all?

oh wow....just pulled a spare ignition coil apart....felt like i was breaking it, but nope.... looks just like the picture now...i wonder how much the extensions are too

If your not careful some of the bakalite can crack, but if its old then it doesn't matter

Cool. I pull my spares tonight. Hmm Looks very good vs the 4-5 gen versions. Hanshins or whatever.

After that pm you sent me, Jeff, I pulled one of mine apart (took the extension off). It was a cracked one. I am deciding how I want to take the plastic apart now.

It's really the spring and it's condition I was curious about. On the 5 gens, the spring to coil or spring to extension contact gets corroded/dirty and makes the coil perform irratic. But what the hell, rip that coil apart and see what's in it. heh

I pulled one of my 165k coils apart, looked exactly the same. Maybe one of the guys in the northeast can check theirs out.

the spring on my spare one looked kinda dull and faded, it also didn't look like it had very much 'spring' to it. sometime these next few days when I get a chance, Im going to pull all of my coils apart, and spray them with electronics cleaner real good.
