Guys,
Just got my 93 GXE a couple of months ago and have found out that the rims on these things is a pain in the @$$ to clean. Have any of you found anything that works to help clean all the brake dust off the rims? I've tried the new Finish 2001 Rim cleaner that claims no acid but all it did was put a spotty film on the rim......didn't even touch the brake dust like it claimed. I guess what I'm wondering is if I have to spend 10 mins a rim cleaning every little spot by hand like I'm doing now, or if there's a better way or a better product. Please let me know if there is, b/c the way i'm doing it now is back-breaking! Thanks.

FOUR WORDS

Armor All Wheel Cleaner......this stuff works like a charm and doesen't damage your rims or brakes. I swear by it. and once your done go over the tires with Jet Wet...you can get both of them from auto zone or discount and the armor all is aobut $3 and the Jet Wet is about $5 but both are worth it.

The rims are pretty simple to clean, before I got my car, my a parents never washed it. So I had about 80k of brake dust on the rims. My friends worked at the local car wash so we used some of their acid to wash off the dust, works nice. It probably damages the rims, but no biggie.

Here's what they look like now, even after not being washed for 80k.

car wash soap and a big fat sponge always got mine clean pretty easily.

the problem is when the clear finish starts peeling off, then you've got bare aluminum.. that's the part that doesn't clean well. not much you can do with it besides some polishing compound and car wax after you get them clean.

Yeah I know what you mean. Cleaning your rims does suck. I have to clean mine everyday bc the brake dust is so bad. It is pretty easy though I can get in between the spoke pretty good since there so big. But bad break dust is one of the things that you get when you buy a maxima.
