question for those who have installed remtote starter/alarm combo
I've had mine in for awhile and it works just fine and so I let my girl friend borrow my car and just like some girls our, she left the headlights and foglights on for 5 or so hours. I went to jump it and while I was jumping with the cables, something sparked pretty bad. Now whenever I use my remote start/keyless entry/alarm, the parking lights don't flash. It's not that big of a deal, but I would like to see if I could fix it. Fuses looked ok and I can drive just fine with the parking lights on when I am driving. Called Mag Hi Fi and they wanted $50 to look at again and so I said screw it.
well on my alarm it has a seperate fuse for the wire going to the parking lights (a fuse right on the alarm wire). You would have to look at the wires right by the alarm to see if thats the case. Usually people will tape that stuff up so you may have to untape to get to it. I always leave fuses sticking out from the tape so I can easily find and replace them.
sounds like either they just peeled back the wire and wrapped the alarm wire around it and taped it up. it probably came undone and that may have caused it to spark. just follow the trail of wires through the firewall. if you have a test light test them when the remote start is on
isnt magnolia hifi owned by BEST BUY (im an installer there) they should have a lifetime labor warrenty and should look at it for free
also check the fuse awsome is talking about. if its an alarm made by DEI (viper, cliford, rattler, avital, python) it will be a white wire that has the fuse on it about 6in from the brain and thats proboly it. if that fuse is not bad the alarm brain could be bad but it might have a life time warrenty
let us know what brand alarm it is
