How many 5 speed GXEs are there?

Wanted to get a count of all known 5 speed swaps, just curious.

I found a clean looking 5spd (VG) maxima at the junker near me...I was thinking about starting the swap as a summer project.

Although keep in the mind the toughest project I've completed so far has been a timing belt/water pump change. how hard a project is the swap? i know you need to change a lot of wiring.

Oh, and not to mention the car has like 200k miles on it. The tranny might be f00ked. Is there any way to kind of scope out if the tranny has any problems before going ahead with the swap?

The only problem in our area is finding a 5 speed in the junk yard. I've been everywhere. The only one I found had been raped already.

My 91 is sitting in the garage and there is no way I'm putting an automatic back in there.

Yeah, I got lucky finding my donor. Found a '91 SE, black interior to match mine, with a 5 speed, wrecked in the rear. Only other 3rd gen in the yard was a GXE. Other yard I visited had a few 5sp 3rd gens, but they were raped.

SPeedway is the one I mentioned having a few. They have a LOT of cars, but the place is a ****hole. Cars sitting on the ground, usually with no wheels, and no blocks holding them up. And you cant bring a jack in.

I found my donor at U-Wrench-It. All their cars are up in the air about 2 feet so it's easy to get to the shift linkage and all.

yeah you cant really compare speedway to u-wrench-it as far as cleanlyness but speedway has 7-10 3rd gens at a time where as u-w-i has maybe 1 or 2 so thers no comparison

i have taken jacks into speedway (in a book bag)

i got the vlsd 5spd which is in my car now from speedway in aug (very luck) although it no longer has 3rd gear (very unlucky) althought it dont really matter when your VE no longer has acceptable bearing clearences if you know what i mean
