another speaker question...
i know the stock bose front accepts 4" but to fit 6.5, but in this thread http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=389328, instead of buying the mounts or building my own, will doing option #1 on post #20 be a better alternative? if i do option #1, will the cover fit perfectly when i put the door panel back on?
option # 1 is using a prefabbed mount or building your own...
honestly that's your best bet. take a look at the link to James' brackets. they are your BEST option and they're by no means expensive. A+ fitment and no modification is needed for the door panel to fit

if you have the tools and time, build your own. materials will cost less than $10. a piece of mdf was about $8 + wood glue. start it at night so the glue can set overnight. or just buy james' brackets.
if you are going to keep your car and your system, you could just modify the stock brackets. if you're going to sell the car but want to keep your system, make your own brackets. that way you can just swap in the old stuff before you sell the car. if i ever sell my car, i'm not leaving $200 speakers in there as a bonus

After taking out the front Bose assembly, I just knew I did'nt have the patience or correct tools to correctly modify them. I decided to just make my own braces.

I was amazed at the full sound that was preserved using this homemade solution.

If you dont mind the bottom portion of the door panel sticking out a bit you can put 6x9s in there. Mine stick out a bit but I havent modded the mount so they fit better but the road noise did increase but that ment I just turned the stereo up and let my pioneer 6x9 120w speakers pump out more bass. Surprisingly with that low of wattage they put out alot of bass.
i have 2 bose speakers in front, 4" and amps, i do not have the brackets, i used them to cut my 6 1/2 speakers. they were in the car when i got them, i do not know if they work or not, but i wil sell them dirt cheap, they are trash to me
