Some people swear by them, others think they are a waste. I think they are over-rated. Get a Y-pipe instead.

They don't make them for our cars. I don't have one.
But what alot of pple have done is bought this accord CAI

And with minimail trimming it will work. You also need to make a hole to run the pipe in front of the wheel well. Some has a link for the exact location somewhere.

That's right they don't make them for 99% Maximas

Well there are and aren't CAI for our cars. Confusing yes.

Cattman, Stillen, Warpspeed, & Place all make what is called CAI for the VG motor. Of course, seeing as how they all suck from the fenderwell, I'm not seeing how they're really that much of a CAI.

Btw... I'd got with a HAI, and the Y-pipe. just my $.02

i was originally thinking about just changing it to a HAI because its significantly cheaper..then i heard about CAI so i was like let me look into that...so i may do that...whats a good brand y-pipe and can anyone give me the details on exactly what the y-pipe does and the benefits of it

my maxima is also going to need some other work, i was hoping later, once the engine is decent to put a decent body kit on it then repaint it..much later, i mean my car just hit 100k miles so i have a decent amount of life left in it, hopefully..ill try to post pictures of it. but i really would like to get a little more performance out of it.

on my vg, i felt more power wen i had a hai with warpspeed y pipe. after i installed the accord cai(goes behind the bumper), i kno i gained mid-high but low end was not as good. hai helped low-mid. also, might be because of my filter. it was the filter that came with the ebay kit but it was clean.

Check out my HAI. This was a pipe from Mr.Gone. Basicly 3" mandrel. But to be honest, if you guys do decide to make it this way. Keep the factory mid pipe. It's around 4", and it does seem to perform better (and louder)

Original

Mandrel
