Better if you have a 5 speed

I have an auto. It is noticeable, but I've never had it dynoed. Advertised to make 15-18 hp, but I think my auto eats up half of it. The raised shift points in an auto are noticeable on the tach. Also noticeable on the gas gage when you get on it. I might have done as well with a Y-pipe and a CAI. If you have a manual it should be quite a kick!

Anybody...

know what parameters the JWT ECU improves?? So far all I know of is fuel and ignition re-mapping, pushes back rev-limiter...what else am I missing?

JWT ECU

I don't know exactly what it changes, but I can tell you that it is very noticable. I did it over a year ago, never once been sorry I did it. Get the y-pipe also.

Re: JWT ECU

Does the ECU upgrade help or hurt your gas mileage, I know the y and CAIs have been giving increased mileage.

Go ahead and get it.I plan on buying one shortly,It will definately help your car out.And if you plan on getting NOS it is something you will need. But I would say if you dont have a Y or CAI get those first.Because the ECU will kick a** even more with those mods.

Remember this also....

DON'T use NOS with the JWT ECU alone, you will need the $450 NOS "daughterboard" add-on! if you run NOS on the JWT chip alone, you will see major damage due to incorrect timing settings!!

Yeah,I forgot to mention that thanks DA-Max.What I meant to say was you will need that but did not mention to say what you would need to go with it if you add NOS.Such as Fuel Pump,Injectors,Plugs,Daughterboard,Etc...Just to be safe

That's about it. I heard it may eliminate the top speed governor also, but not sure. Stock limiter is at 130mph. It increases the shift points on automagics by about 300rpm's. I think that's what you mean by "rev-limiter."

While I have the Factory Supermax, my good buddy Jonnymax said that it was the most impressive gain when he got the JWT ECU. Next best thing was a y pipe. He has an 94 SE 5sp. Also the fuel cut occurs at 7000 rpm on VE's and that would be any speed limiter. I have gone 150 in my car so I know that there wasn't any speed limiter.

Czar is not an idiot. Supermax is just his term because he likes his car alot. He doesn't doesn't claim "factory supermax" is an offical term or whatnot. He car is pretty super though, it's one of the cleanest 3-gens I've seen(besides mine!)

get it

i bought the ecu and it was totally worth every penny it doesn't really hurt your milage unless you step on it all the time...cause it is tuned for performance...but it is a good investment if you are looking for performance

The JWT ECU is...

$550+shipping; JET also makes one for $400+shipping.

I just say that to alleviate the frustration that some people have when they run marginally better times than me with waaay more mods. I have just an intake and my buddy has everything that you can reasonably bolt on to a max and his best (so far) is 14.6....

Re: DA-MAX

The JWT ECU does NOT change transmission shift points.

I wuld think so....

as long as you inform JWT of the shot of ntrous you are using, so they can custom design the chip for you. Personally I'd stay with NX or NOS since ZEX has that "computer controlled" solenoid box and is sorta different from the NOS solenoid set-up(if I'm correct).....
