squeaky brakes

would anyone no why my front brakes squeak only 4 or 5 months after i just had rotors and pads replaced and then resurfaced just last week. Cause just this morning while at a stop light i pumped my breaks lightly and i heard them squeaking i don't no what it could be.

depends on the pads you put on.
could also be something caught between pad and rotor.

Same thing happened to me when I had my pads changed. It sounded like something kept rubbing against the rotors. It happened only at one spot on the rotor so when the wheel turned a full circle and came back to that spot, you could hear the sound. I assumed it was a warped rotor but I guess it wasn't because the noise stopped on its own or maybe it was and the obstruction just grinded (ground ???) itself out.

So your saying theres no way of removing that annoying squeeling sound from certain pads? I really hope those metal masters aren't one of them.

Doesn't sound professional when a nice solid built car pulls up to a light with a cool squeel coming out of the brakes.. Especially when you just bought them.

What do the shims look like? Did whoever service the brakes put that goop on to prevent squealing?

Have you worn the rotors down even (yet) to have created an outer edge (raised above where the pads make contact with the rotor)? If there is a rouger edge, the pad and/or early warning strip can make contact with this rougher part of the rotor causing noise almost as if the pads are worn out. My rotors are due for retirement (worn pretty good) and damn near sound like they are about to grind backing plate with rotor (but the pads only have 5K on them).

Brakes but ABS

Not a squeaky brakes problem, but have onl posted a few times so i can't start a thread. 93 Max with ABS. Recently brakes have been making some funny sounds, braking felt odd, and ABS light coming on from time to time. Took it in and had new rotors and pads put on. Brakes well now, but ABS light still comes on and at slow speeds the brakes feel like they're not always working right. Took it in again and they said the control unit was bad. like 800 which i'm not going to put into a car that i'm only gonna have for another year at most. Question is, can i pull the Anti-skid fuses to just turn the ABS off? It seems like it's the ABS that is causing the problem, cause it only brakes funny when the ABS light is off. Once it comes on it starts braking normally. Any help appreciated.

What about when your braking is smooth and sound free, and right before you stop you hear a dump truck grind? Also as you slowly depress the brake pedal, same noise, up until you start rolling again. Any ideas? Pads and Rotors are brand new(pbr Semi-metalic pads + brembo blanks)

Hm... I guess, I gotta take em out again then. But if something was getting in the way of operation, wouldn't I hear it, as I slow down? I only hear it right before I come to a complete stop or begin moving again. Before that, it's as quite as a fox

My friend has a 96 Maxima and on his right after he got the front brakes replaced they sounded horrible, like metal on metal, but the mechanic said that this is normal of brand new brakes and that it should go away after a short while.
