that would be your window regulator gone bad; you probably dont need a new motor, just the regulator itself
if you can hear the motor operating when you hit the swithc, then it's allright

theres not really a "fix" for it. its just the type of thing where you have to buy a new one and put it in. this is really common. just call up courtesy nissan, ask for a new window regulator, and then put it in. craig has a nice how to on how to put the new one in. basically what happens is this little piece of plastic breaks in the regulator, and your window falls, since this is what is used to hold the window up. the new ones are supposed to be heavier duty and arent supposed to break as easily. i've had all 4 of mine replaced. cost is around $50 per regulator.

could very well be. the piece of plastic that breaks squeezes up against the cable, and this is what holds the window up. when the plastic breaks, the cable could just about go anywhere. just to make sure though, see if you can get the cable unrolled and back to normal, then try the window.

i'm not real sure what you mean by the pulley. the whole thing in there is basically one unit, so these directions should help. you may just have to fiddle with it for a while since its all tangled up. this is on craigs website.

I've fixed all of my regulators, but there's no specific procedure to do it. either you can see how to fix it or not. if you've tried to get the cable unwound and can't figure it out on your own, then jsut buy a new one. I know a lot of us here are on a budget, but fighting with those things for 5 hours, then having to break down and buy another one anyway really ****es people off.. so I'm telling you now to stop screwing with it and just buy another.

the EXACT part numbers are on kaleb's website (www.kalebonline.com. go to maxima garage, then the FAQ page), if you're that picky about it. otherwise just call up a nissan dealer and tell them you need a regulator and fork over the $ and be done with it.
