I had noticed a rattling noise from the back end a couple weeks ago, and after I did my rear brakes and got the wheel mounted and tightened this weekend, I could feel that there was a little bit of play somewhere. When I pushed on the face of the wheel or the tire, there was some sort of thumping noise--like tapping your fingernail on a butcher block--that occurred and then continued as the body moved back and forth until the body stopped moving. Anyone have any ideas?

sounds like either the hub nut has come loose, or your rear wheel bearings are going out.

Either that, or you didn't get everything back together correctly after you did the brakes.

Pull it all apart and check the hub. if you need a new one, let me know. I think I've got a spare set from when I did my rear disc conversion.
