Hookup power leather seats?
hey org its been a while but i do have a good comeback question. i recently aquired some leather seats in mint condition from a 90 max. i have a 92 an i already installed the seats because i did need to drive. but i would like to know how do i wire up the power seats. my connector under the seat has 12 volts but it is different from the connector under the new seats. having operative seats would be nice. the motors do work. but i jumped 12 volts with a piece of wire to the seat and they still dont work. what am i missing? i dont see a ground or is it something else. where is the electrical master Craig? Please help! thanks.

from what it looks like to me. the plug under the new seats look like it has two wires combined going to the same terminal like they are twisted together. Also they both seem to be the same color. I know there are more people who have done this, so could you please come forward so i can adjust my seat away from granny mode.

my fsm only shows one wire going to the seat bringing 12 volts from the battery. if there are 2 wires, then either the second wire is tapping in at that point for something else or nissan didn't want to use one big wire to carry all the current.
what makes me wonder is why the car wire harness and the seat are different connectors. you didn't specifically say that you verified that the car wire harness has 12 volts. maybe nissan didn't put a fuse in because thay didn't put in power seats.

some of them have impact sensors, i think.
when i swapped leather/power seats into a non-power SE, there were still two plugs, on two different wires. one was an airbag sensor, one was a power seat plug.
so its possible you are looking at two that won't match - and not have something wrong.

I actualy did a non-power seats to power seat swap and the two wires coming off the seat are both positive terminals. The ground is simply the frame of the seat which is bolted to the frame of the car.

weel i guess ill get out here and to a t tap on the seat. and yes the connector under the seat coming rom the car is 12 volts. thats what my dmm is reading. so ill hook it up and see if it works.im assuming the reason the seat plug has two wires is to serve the two different motions of the seat maybe? if it works, maybe i can get my seat to stop rocking because the two rear mounting bolts are not on there because i cant get to it.

I went from non-powered cloth seats to powered leather seats when I swapped out my cloth to all black leather interior. The plugs are there. Just plugged into a black socket. These plugs just fit into the leather power seats fine. Plug and play. Both sets of seats came from a 1992.

The seats he got are out from a 90max. I think the plugs are different.

I looked at my power seat (94 gxe cloth seat) and it has 2 wires plugged into it. one connector has a single wire, white with red stripe and is thicker that most wires. the other connector has 2 thin wires in it, a green and a brown (i think, i can't remember already). the two connectors look similiar but I couldn't plug the other wire in.
the 2 connectors are close to dead center in the seat, about an inch from each other. i'm thinking the connector with the 2 thin wires are for the seatbelt sensing for the light in the dash.

power seat cond.?
My '89 SE's leather seats are shredded, front and rear. How's the condition of the power/heated/leather front seats you pulled out of the '92? How much did they cost, if I can ask? Mine are also flat, non-supportive, and the remaining leather's like hard plastic. I used to have a '92 SE, and those seats were polar opposites to these. Thinking about some JC Whitney "Sport Compacts," $320/pr. Reupholster the red & yellow-stitched headreats, and they look decent, like budget Recaros.

DennisMilk, since our cars have automatic seatbelt, the seatbelt sensor are located on the pillar right where the door is, just behind the plastic covering, and not under the seat.

the second connector that is under my seat is part of the seatbelt system. it is essentially a pressure sensor to detect if someone is sitting in the seat. the passenger seat has one too. if it didn't, then the seatbelt light in your dash would be on when no one was sitting there.

Ok, I just made a new thread but I guess after searching I finally found this one. I just got power leather seats off another 92-94 GXE fully loaded to swap into my base 93 GXE, there was one wire underneath the seat and was plugged into my cloth seat so I'm guessing thats the famous seatbelt plug. According to Mr. InternetAutoMart...every Max should come prewired and you just have to find the wire under the carpet. Has anyone removed the carpet on a 92-94 GXE to find the connector?
