Ok, fixin to do a serious overhaul on the max. When i say overhaul, i mean, restore. By the time i'm done it will be back in its original shape. I wanna rebuild the motor, transmition and possibly replace or repare everything under the hood. I wanna have new leather too. Can anyone tell me where to get motor rebuild kits and transmition rebuild kits. Where can i get new leather too. I don't care if i have to replace the seats, just needing it done. also, what are all the best upgrades/mods. I know some are useless, so if you don't mind, can someone give me the list of whats worthwhile and whats a waste. Thnx and i'll keep everyone posted on my progress and will post pics!!!
you beat me to it you bastard. I was going to do everything though. ALL the upgrades on JWT for the VG. And there's a website a few threads back. I asked about the rebuild kit and someone gave me the site. But I don't have it anymore... I'll see if I can't find it.

lol sorry, i was debating on buying a new car for about 15k or so, or rebuilding the max....i thought about it and decided i don't wanna give up the max, too awesome of a car, i wanna do EVERYTHING to it, new wheels, body kit, its going to be awesome when i get done, i'm fixin to get a college loan and was going to use it for a new car, instead, the max shall reap the benefits, lol
thnx for the link, are you going to rebuild the motor too?? and is the JWT good upgrades or bad?
Well I tried emailing them to see if the connecting rods would be worth it. But all they sent back was a "it'll work" deal with a listing of $hit that wouldn't work
I about emailed back screaming at them my Maxima is not a ****ing 95.
So I figured why not. I've got 2 other cars to drive around while that is being worked on. Now I'm just waiting to see if they're going to close my base down or not. It'd suck to have everything out and apart. Then they come down saying the base is closing and I have orders to move.

I drove my truck down one strecth, then took my car and it matched peferctly. I probably won't get around to it till next year tax return.
mine is fixin to round 200k, it needs it, even though this engine is in like PERFECT condition, just having a problem with the alternator. Anyways, i'm hoping to have this done soon, might have to find me a cheap car to drive in the meantime...blah

if u go to my cardomain site to my last page u'll c what im goin' through. im practically doin' the same to my '93 since i already have the new motor which i will finally drop it into my '93 tomorrow. the motor that was in my '93 is now in my '89 SE with over 250k original miles along with a new timing belt, water pump, and thermostat and its still runnin' strong like if it was new. but in ur case its good that ur doin' this to ur Max. keep us posted and good luck.
Hey, sounds like a good plan to restore the max... must be nice to not have to worry about rust!!! I want to keep my maxima for at least the next 4-5 years so right now I'm just going to take care of some rust that is starting to form on the rear wheel well and door jamb...
so far both of my maxes were spared of rust, not a bit of it, unfortunantly i was plagued with other problems instead, lo, i just finally got the alt replaced, now i gotta find a different amp, for some reason that amp was killing my alts....kinda odd....
Mine will be a slow process (waiting for that several thousands of dollars). My system in my truck in nearing completion. I have 5 more items left to get. 2 amps, Component speakers, new H/U and new wiring. Around $4000 left to pony up (the H/U killing me the most)
I still have other plans (lowering, rims... etc) But those can wait till after the overhaul of the Maxima.

Hate to be a Killjoy, but I wouldn't take out a college loan to restore a car. If it is running alright, get a part time job and fix it up as you go. I know people who have college loans 15 years after they graduate. And what about the ones who didn't graduate and still owe the money? It could impact your finances for a long time to come. And unfortunately, the car will not appreciate. If something happened and you had to sell it, you would not get your money back out of it. They are very neat cars, but the majority of people see them as old sedans.
damn man i'd have to work 50 hours a week to make any money at a part time job
the loan i'm getting is only 120 a month after i graduate, plus i'd pay it off faster than that anyways, just cause i don't wanna have to worry about it, plus a part time job isn't enough to fix the stuff that goes wrong with the max
i understand your point though
