try the dealership, but it will cost you. When I bought one for my 95 Pathfinder a couple of years ago, it was like $15 for the blank key and another $6 or $7 for them to make it. They can also make a key with the code out of the glove box. IIRC, you have to show proof of ownership with the VIN and some other things. I don't think the price gets any cheaper, though. Prices may vary by stealership...

You could keep getting cheap copies made at Wal-Mart for $1 until one of them works just right.

They have blanks shaped like the factory key, but it doesn't say Nissan on it, too.

You can also buy the blanks at courtesy parts prety cheap,so when you got a cheap copy made at walmart that works right you could copy that onto a factory blank.

The keys at walmart are a dead on match besides the nissan not being on there,I had the crappy lookinf blank for a spare key until I seen the black plastic ones they had

btw - mine works fine in everyway in the car.

I got a crappy (copy) bent key when i bought my car. I just got a replacement key with a plastic head made at Lowe's this past weekend that works fine.

If you're worried about making a copy of the key that only works when you put it in a certain way take both pieces of the broken plastic key to an old "mom and pop" type hardware store or an old locksmith. They will ussually have an older style key maker that utilizes a clamp which they can use to clamp to hold the pieces together and make your copy. I used to do it all the time when I worked at a neighborhood hardware store when I was a kid.

The orginal keys for my 90 Max were so worn they would not open the trunk or passenger door. I broke down and went to the Nissan dealership when my key would not come out of the ignition for a few hours. They used the code engraved in the orginal key to make the new one. They only charged about 7 bucks.

My 90 Maxima came from the dealer with a 4 digit code that was used by a dealer to punch out a new key.
