Parts Source - Manifold Studs?

The guys at the parts counter at my local Nissan dealership are arrogant idiots. They insist that I cannot put VG30DETT exhaust manifold studs on my VG engine.

Does anyone have an online source for the exhaust manifold studs so I don't have to deal with morons like this?

Well, they might be right. You want the VG30ET studs, not the VG30DETT studs. Anyway, I bought my studs from DaveB. But I've also dealt w/ Kelly Nissan in Beverly, MA and the guy there is very nice. Probly an hours' drive for you from Kittery. Also, let me know if you want to borrow any of my tools that I bought when I did my studs.

The VG30DETT came from me -- his exact quote was that I had to use the specific Maxima studs and the reinforced ones would not fit.

Thanks for your offer of tools. I need to re-read your write-up on the job to remember what specialty tools you used. Right now the tranny is out of the car so I'm hoping that gives me some extra room to move around under there. As you'll recall, I'm not a little guy.

Your vg studs should be 8mm where as vg30dett are 10mm. you probably can use them and I have seen dealers f-up the 8mm and rather than buy a new head redrill and retap for the 10mm. But I dont recommend it.

as long as it's a 8mm stud you're ok. nissan corrected their maxima stud part number and it's now (i think) is the same as the turbo applications.

*Breaking News*

Ken at Jerry Rome Nissan has started giving a discount again. I've used him before and he is great, and since they are in Western Mass the stuff usually arrives in 1-2 days (should be the same for you Geerhead). Honestly, even though Nissan *supposedly* changed the part number for the Maxima studs, I order the VGT studs from the Z31 just to remove any doubt as to whether that is true or not.

Here's Ken's link: http://forums.maxima.org/showthread.php?t=423313

You can get all the part numbers from the 4dsc writeup.

Oh yeah, I just remembered!! The first time I ordered all the parts for the studs, I didn't know the manifold gaskets were different between the VG and VE. So, I have an extra gasket for the VG if you want it. LMK.

The part numbers have changed slightly from the 4DSC write-up. The gasket number hasn't changed, but the number in the write-up (14036-V5000) is for the LEFT (front) gasket. The rear gasket part number is: 14037-V5000.

Miz; you got PM.
