help removing permanet bird dropping stains...
i need some help removing some bird stains on my hood and some other stuff. There is some permanent bird stains on my hood and no matter what I do I can't remove them, the stains has eatten through the clear coat and it etched the paint, because it's been so long. Is there any solution to fix it?
You might be able to buff it out like a scratch, if the clear coat is still in decent shape. But, I would be very careful because you can burn the paint. You might try taking it to a detail shop (or body shop) and asking how much to buff out your car. It might be worth it if your paint is looking dull and still has decent enough clear to polish up.
i, too, have this problem. the previous owner left two bird stains on the hood and one on the roof. buffing won't do you any good, though, since you said it's gotten to the paint. i did scratch remover and a 3-step wax job with all mother's products and they're still there. i think a new paint job is the only thing that'll fix it.
clay bar works great. you should do it about twice a year. it'll get a lot of crud off your car. but, if it's been on too long, that bird crap will eat through the clear coat and paint. i've clay barred four times and it didn't do much to the stains...
you can find mother's clay bar at most pep boys, kragen, etc. i remember one time i found it on sale at walmart for $11. just do yourself a favor and buy an extra bottle of that "showtime instant detailer" spray that comes in the box. you can go through about 1.5 - 2 bottles in one session.
