Sea Foam Question! Help

Hey guys, Yesterday I put 1/3rd of a can of sea foam in the brake booster vacum line. After smoking the whole town I noticed the cars idle would stumble and the slowly recover to about 750 rpms.

The car's engine got hot as crap while running and no air flowing over the radiator to cool it down.

Will this stumbling of engine idle wear off ?
I am going to use another 1/3rd of the can today!
Is that safe?

I would be inclined not to add another 1/3 can of SeaFoam and just drive the car for awhile longer and see what happens. Get it out on the highway for a decent run.

I have heard that people swear by seafoam and have had great results. Your experience sounds sort of like "I drank until I puked last night, should I drink the same amount again tonight and see if it goes better?"

OK Guys I had already put another 1/3rd of the can in by the time you guys posted (sorry could not wait!)

But the idle did the same stumble routine until it finished smoking then it cleared up I do not see the rpms fluxing and the motor sounds smooth.

I think it could have broken some crap lose and it was messing with my idle, then when I added more SeaFoam it blew it out and started idleing corectly!

I am also going to add 1/4th of the can to the crankcase and whatevers in the rest of the can into the gas tank to clean the fuel system.

I am going to the Auto Parts store to buy some more oil, Do I need to buy a new filter? (I know i was stupid but I changed my oil right before I heard about seaFoam and I have a week old KandN oil filter that cost 10.00!)

I don't know what to suggest given you have just changed the oil and filter, prior to using the Seafoam. I would hold off putting the Seafoam in the crankcase, however.

You should consider running AutoRX through your engine. See www.auto-rx.com and www.bobistheoilguy.com

It is more effective than Seafoam for cleaning the crankcase and the engine's internals. Seafoam is fine in the intake manifold and throttle body, however.

Yes, you need to buy a new filter! When you put seafoam there...let the engine idle for about 10 mins. Then change the oil and filter right away.

Incorrect. Seafoam is NOT an engine flush. Actually there is NO recommended interval for changing. But I'd do it maybe 100 miles from the next oil change. 10 min probably wouldn't do anything.

You utes, should really read the Fluids / Lubricants section. Seafoam is talked about in great length.

I have read all the threads on seafoam in the Fluids and Lubricants section and I was under the impression that it would help if I put S/F in my oil then change my oil in a 100 miles it would help clean out the engine.....

Will this work ? Any suggestions ?

I am also going to use Auto RX later when I can order it! (S/F is cheaper and i can get it from my autoparts store easily!)

oh, okay. i was under the impression that it was almost an engine flush. but this is what i got from one of the threads:

~~~~~~~~~~~~
anyway, i highly discourage putting seafoam into the crankcase without changing it immediately after a short run. you will see all the crap it cleaned out, but if you dont change it, it will run it through the motor for the 3,000+ miles...
~~~~~~~~~~~~

i dont know how to post a link.

Ask him on what technical basis does he make that claim? Even better ask him how many times he's used it

I knew putting Sea Foam in once would not hurt but I was unsure of twice in the same time frame!

I have read every thread about seaFoam ! But there were no cases of putting it in twice consecutivley!

Thanks guys for the suggestions

Any other suggestions to add?

The directions did not say not to put seafoam in for to consecutive days !

I read somewhere else that you could add 2 doses in the same time frame !

But i value what you extremly smart orgers have to saw about it !
