Installing new rack and hose, do I need new pump?

I'm finally getting around to installing my new steering rack and high pressure hose. Most of the p/s fluid has leaked out and the stearing is really difficult in slow turns. It also makes the loud whining noise when turning. I'm just wondering if I should worry about my p/s steering pump being bad and if I need to replace that also. Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Mrkanda

Have u verified belt tightness?

When turning, smbdy asks it to do all the work. Everybody would whine on that request... - Wear depends on mileage, is there any bearing free play?

Pls smbdy say how long they generAlly last? 200k?

If you run the pump too low on fluid you can damage it.
