Just drain some out....The drain plug is on the bottom of tranny facing the front of the car.....You need a 1/2 inch rachet to loosen the plug

answer in short.........Yes and Yes
You can damage by overfilling and as long as you know how to check your tranny fluid and are positive its overfilled you should drain some out. Otherwise it may "burp" out of the breather tube and make a mess at the least. The marks on the dipstick are there for a reason.

Are you sure you`re measuring it correctly. If measuring it like your oil, you will get an inaccurately high reading. You have to warm it up, drive around for at least 5 mins and move it through all gears, then check it with the engine running.

yes, it's bad to overfill the ATF. if too full, the fluid foams, and it looses it's lubricative and fricton properties. (that's bad)
