weird noise..

I had a metallic creakig noise coming from my front passenger side wheel everytime I braked hard and accelerated hard. I thought it was my shock and mount, so to my surprise after replacing the front shocks and mounts, that noise is back.

I know its not my shocks, mouonts, brakes.. what else could cause this noise? Dont think it could be my tie rods.. what about ball joints, control arm bushings or stabilizer bar bushings... would any of these create a noise when braking hard?

I know its hard to diagnose noises online, but any suggestions of where to look would be helpful.

Thanks

Probably safe to say the control arm bushings/ball joints are gone on that side....

http://internetautomart.com/ sells the whole arm with new bushings and ball joint....

makes sense.. is there a way to check if the control arm bushing needs replacement other than just looking at it?

There is not really anything else that would cause the noise you describe.....10-15 yr. old car..........Definantly needs them....

I've got some clunking coming from the passenger side wheel. Control arm seems fine, ball joint just replaced, it ain't the strut. How do I check the strut mount, and what else could it be?

Jack the car up ..secure it on stands and have a freind lift up on the tire while you watch the control arm bushings. If they are shot you will know.
Good luck

...yess, w/o friends, take a crowbar/steelrod, few 2x4"'s and yank wheel up/down. Watch. While moving, put u finger on joints so that it touches both sides, over the joint, and feel the movement. If slight movement =shot joint

Clunking can also be caused by worn out stabilizer end links and their bushings.

Already been replaced. Pretty sure it's the strut mount. Wiking, can you elaborate on your testing procedure?
