I KNEW I smelled gas

Went to get a new tip put on my muffler this morning. Guy said no way, you've got a gas leak.

Apparently that hose going from the gas tank to the next section, whatever that is, is leaking around the clamps.

Anyone know what size that hose is? I'm thinking it's not a DIY anyway because I think they'll have to empty the tank....

Hmm....maybe I'm reading the wrong thing...but I didn't actually see any rust on mine. Or perhaps my eyes are glazing over from being up since 4am...I think I just have old brittle hoses.

Try tightening the clamps down....Years of vibration can loosen the screws up...save you $$$ too.....

which hose is it?

if it's the smaller sections of rubber hoses, they're not that bad to replace. the vent tube next to the filler is like 1/2" or something and is common to crack and leak. I'm going to guess that's the one you're talking about.

pull it off, take what's left of it to a parts store and have them match up the size you need. 15 minutes fix.

Yeah, it's the one near the bottom of the fuel tank, drivers side; it's got this foam surrounding it with pre-made holes, kinda like you have inside the engine bay protecting certain hoses.
