89 questions

Well I orgionaly started my maxima life with a 91 3rd gen the I sold it and obtained two 4th gens wich I currently have. And now I obtained a free 89 3rd gen from a really good friend. Well the questions I had were it has messed up windows. The motor works but it's like it's off track. I think I remeber 3rd gens Have bad window regulaotors. Is this my problem? And if so how hard to install? And my othe question is the car has a slight tick. My friend thinks it's because the car's been siting for a year and it needs an oil change. I would have never started it if I knew that but oh well. I love the car just need some help.

Most likely it's the regulators.

ticking could be the exhaust mainifold studs. The factory studs were of inferior quality, so they have a tendency to rust and/or shear.

I'm waiting to see how much money I have coming up but I'll pm you on those regulators when the time comes. I did a lot of work on the car tonight and made some good acomplishments. Changing the oil completly ridded the car of the tick. The old oil was the worth I had ever seen. I put fresh oil in and ran it for a minute and even decided to drain that and refill with fresh oil. And it's like brand new now. Very nice. Got a starter put in. I know easy but now it starts so that's a plus.

More likely the valve: vacuum powered, electronically controlled... Check first the vac hose for brittled ends, if so, cut off [15.] half inch from ends... (For VE hose location differs)

since you have an 89 the first thing to do is bleed the coolant system.
89 doesn't have the intake bleed valve so you need to jack the nose of the car up so that the radiator cap opening is higher than the heater core (39" up)
it's a fairly common malady.

The 89 se maxima has the bleed screw on top of the intake thing.

Why dosen't it bleed out like 90 -91 maximas ?

I want to bleed coolant too properly I just unscrewed the bleed screw.

I thought that bleed the air bubbles out!

Ok so I checked all the said above and found it to be ok. My problem is that there is hot coolant in the top hose going into the fire wall even past the valve thing and the bottom hose is completly dry and cool? This means my heater core is cloged right? If not what else? Thanks

Possibly.

Take out the output hose, ask smbdy to start engine. Coolant will splash all around when valve open, coolant circulates ... use extra hose to collect.
IF NOThing comes out, smtg is truly blocked.

Take off the intput hose, install it to output, ask smbdy to start engine. Coolant will splash - IF youre lucky.

If no flow, I'd try to soak dirt off with some chemicals, and/or insert some pressure both directions ...like from tap (careful).

What could be blocked:
- Incoming hose bent
- hose inner lining collapsed, blocking
- worst case cont: buy core (they say some cheap ones fit BUT miss parts of tubing)... rip dash all open, swap.

Whatever - shield u ECU from being fried.

based on what you've said, I'd try a flush BOTH ways on the heater core and see if that helps.
it did on my buddies old caravan. he went to the car wash and pressured the outlet port, then did the inlet. he got his heat back.
