plates between tranny and engine

well Ive finaly got everything to get my 5 speed car together!

And when i took off the auto it was missing some plates, mainly the inspection plate to cover the bottom half of the tranny, from stuff hitting it. It looks like there were supost to be 2 parts to that cover, maybe 3. my 5 speed came off, and it had 2 plates, a big to cover everything, and then the top cover. I cant remember if it had a third plate on the bottom half. no wait I know it had 3. Or i wouldnt have one that fits the bottom. any way It doesnt seem like it fits, or maybe I just need to get those tranny supports on the engine.

Im thinking, the engine gets 1 half plate, then the full plate goes on top of that plate, then when i get the tranny supports bolted to the engine and get the tranny up i can get the bottom half plate bolted on, and from drivers side to pass side it will go, tranny, big plate, then the 2 half plates, then engine right? Im just making sure so i dont have to pull all this crap off again.

there's 2 plates for the 5 speed. a big one, and one bottom half moon one that isn't supported by anything besides the engine-tranny mounting bolts.

thats what I gathered from last night. Looked at all i have laying around, and figured that was the case. and for autos, its 2 piece, one upper and one lower.

What scared me is when I got the car (as an auto) I was missing the lower plate so you could see the TC and the starter wheel. Didnt want the same for my 5 speed...

good thinking. you especially don't want either plate missing with the 5 speed. your tranny would be mounted at a slight angle and possible allow forign objects in to your clutch case.
