Hey Guys,
Well, the VTC's on my Max are now getting really really loud and clacking all the time.
They seem to stop clacking for a bit when I'm running in high rpm, but then goes back to clacking loudly when I hit the lower bands. Is there any way I can potentially quiet them down some, besides having the whole job of replacing them, which I know is amazingly costly?
Thanks,
Phil

Craig brace's site has a write up the disable the vtc's....This will probably quiet them down some....

well i was thinkin about goin jdm with my max. its only got 80 000 kms (sorry about kms but im canadian) and im assuming it doesnt have the clack. If i were to ground out the VTC before it happens...in the future will the tick come even if its ever so little...or would that just make sure it dont happen

Grounding them does not prevent the clacking....Just quiets them down a little when they start clacking......

Try it and let us know in a few years if it worked....

I just picked up a 237k VE last night no VTC clack after the first jump (car sat for like 6+ mos before we jumped it)since then no clack

Need some parts?

nope, I hate rush hour.
0, 35, 20, 0 , 35 (repeat for next hour)
A/T makes it much more tolerable

Julio might still have the harness
seriously, is there something wrong with the 5spd tranny? why not just leave it?

rush hour you have a chance, you only really have to watch out for Randy who will own just about anyone in that aspect.
But parallel parking?
My Mom has been driving a 5spd to downtown Seattle for the past 8 years

chicago rush > seatle "rush"
I just parallel parked my wagon with it's A/T and I'd rather not try it in a stick frequently

I still use the Toyota filter. You mean the US made Yota filter? They still make it, except now in Thai. And it works like a charm. Want the parts number?

Yeah skitz. You know, the stuff you don't got. Panzy. BTW. Seattle has the 3rd worst traffic in the country.
