Probe GT Wheels

Was interested in putting some pre-95 probe GT 16" Wheels on my max. Found some in decent shape for $180.

Does anyone know if these even fit? I thought they had the same bolt pattern as Mustangs, but I dont remember.

How does it make the max handle?

Is $180 a good deal? tires on them are useless...

These are from a junkyard, I am a n00b to wheels, so what do I look for to make sure there not bent or any other problems?

Thanks in Advance!

Good deal but the offset may be a problem. I'd try them some might not, however at that price, why not? Maybe you should get them try them and post pics and then sell'em Bargain them down to $150 since the tires are shizt

hey this yard you speak of, does it by any chance have any satin pearl white maximas, one with a good bumper?

i dont know anything bout the offsets of them but they could work. our offsets are around 30-42 depending on the width of the rim.

Are they the 5 star straights or the swirlies?? Either way get them, if they are in good shape they sell for alot more elsewhere. ( Cy94PGT on Probetalk.com )
I might still have a set of chrome 95 swirlies at my friends garage. I'll call him and find out.

These are the 5 spoke ones. I know where some swirlies are as well. Glad to hear that a good price. Also, theres is a maxima of the color you are looking for there. Do you need the front or back bumper?

They fit, but you have to remove the bearing cap in the rear and create one that fits

the offset of 2nd gen pgt wheels is +40mm, the width is 7.5 inches, the height is 16 inches

check the pics to see how they fit on mine

i've got hankook h405 (215/55/16) on them, and the car is lowered, and they don't rub anywhere

The only thing from Ford on the Probe was the Name Plate.

Yes your are technicaly right. BUT both the motors ( 2.5 Kl-03 and the 2.0 I4 ) and all the trannys, not to mention the entire suspension, are totally foreign to Ford. When I tried to buy a PCV valve for my 94 PGT, Ford told me it was a special order item only available in bags of 6 (?), and I had to buy an entire bag at like 12$ apeice. The Mazda dealership threw me one for 6 bucks. Not to mention the local Ford dealer took 6MONTHS to fix mine after an accident.

Ford might own Mazda but it has no idea what is going on "over there".

Hey CyMax, nice to see another Pt.com member on here!

Fastflyingasian: you are onto something. Though I can't believe you are bashing probes when one will run a 15.5 second stock (i've seen it done) and yours???....

Mazda made the actual engine, the trannies are ford, but there is some sense in what you said.
If you ever see a probe engine or 626 engine or mx-6 engine, (i believe there is another one also) look on the injectors, there is a mitsubishi symbol on them hence alot of the wiring is done by mitsu*****i.

November 1979--- Ford buys a 25% stake in Toyo Kogyo of Japan, later to become Mazda.

June 1992--- Mazda Motor Manufacturing Corporation is restructured as equal partnership with Ford, renamed AutoAlliance International Inc.

June 1994--- Japan just now introduces the Probe.

April 1996--- Ford takes effective control of Mazda.

The Ford probe shares the same platform as the:

Mazda Mx-6
Mazda 626
Ford Telstar
Mazda Cronos
Efini MS-6

Visit http://www.tnpoc.com if you want any more info on the car.

Oh yea, the chrome swirlies would look badass on a maxima.
The handling... well i'm not sure.
It's all about the width, so if it's wider it's better right?

Got the wheels. Stupid boneyard charged me $15 a piece for tires and wouldnt unmount them, so I took them to my friends and took them off. I get $15 a piece for returning them tomorrow. Pretty dumb, they could have just let me take tires with 0 thread for free and I would have got rid of them, but now they need to.....

Anyway the wheels fit and look great, too bad they were only on for 20 min, then I had to put the stock ones back so I could drive to work. $120 for all four once I get my $60 back.

Any tire reccomendations? Keep in mind I live in MI

continental contitach (i think that is their name) are good for all season. but if youre gonna run the stockers in the winter then go with something a little more aggressive.

I have a probe 3.0L 5sp, and it will take most of the ricer kids around town. Most imports have to have forced induction or an engine swap to keep up .

welp looking at your findings, IMO id rather have an aftermarket rim or a 2000 maxima rim on there than any ford item on my car.

mixing ford and nissan is like mixing a drink with a tampon. ford sucks the life out of everything. even if there just rims

1.Them wheels are not my "findings" They are jeff92se's wheels...

2.A wheel is just a wheel...Even if its a ford wheel...Ford didn't even make the wheel..They are most likely made by some wheel company....They are good quality wheels....

3. Get your info correct nOOb

Read the posts before you respond, that was addressed in the post before yours. Ford + Mazda Engine + Mazda transmission = Probe

I would argue with you, but then I realized you just joined and only have 4 posts

I understand what you mean though, why would you put a high quality Ford part on a Nissan .
