Car got broken into....

Nothign was stolen, but still need a new window. I was at work and some one did it in broad daylight last say it at 4:30 2 hours later went out for my break and the window was smashed in. They reached in to unlock the car then the alarm went off so they must have ran.

Losing that 4DSC sticker is tragic, since I don't think you can get them anymore.

Since that window doesn't roll down, I am not sure how easy to replace. You might call an autoglass place and see what the cost is or how difficult it is. If it isn't too hard, you could probably get the window from a junkyard.

when i still had a max my car use to get broken into once a month. That was the favorite window to break. It isn't that hard to replace. I cant remember exactly how to but you will definately have to move the trim around the glass which was a pita only because you dont want it to be all bent up.

ok i took a whole door apart, let me see if i remember how to take it apart.

youll need to take all the black trim off, there are screws hidden under the rubber seal around the door on the inside, be very careful taking this off because its fragile and its expensive at the dealer.. once that is out i think that the next step is to clean it up so the new will go in. then place the glass in and put the trim back on.

its been awhile so thats a short rendition....let me know if you need more help.

Yeah, that's how THEY got into my car one time. I was lazy and had to go to work, so had the glass company come out and fix it. It ran $89 parts & labor; not bad for the convenience.

I had that same window smashed too, had someone come out and replace it for about 110. There used to be an auto-glass/tire place in Farmingdale (think that's near you) that was cheap, they did my rear glass back in the HS days for about $100 less than anyplace else I called. I've not lurked that area in a while, but it's worth a look in the phone book if you're short on time.

Frustrating isnt it? I've had those quarter windows on both sides broken into alot the past few years. Twice on the passenger side and three times on the driver side. One of the times the guys tried to get cute and thought they could pry the window out, and fubar'd up my window trim on the driver side around the window.

The last time it happened, last year, the cold saved me. It was snowing (rare here in Dallas), and they tried to get the door open but it was frozen shut I was up really late that night studying and ran out and caught them driving off and was quite glad the door was frozen

Anyway, that window isnt hard to replace. It can be frustrating but it's not very complicated at all. There's a little white plastic part that sits under that piece of glass that clips into the rubber surround. Make sure you transfer it over to the new window. It's pretty annoying when you get it all back together and realize you forgot that part!

Damn, I had the exact same thing happen to me. Some amateurs went down to my building's underground garage, broke my quarter glass reached in and opened the door, the alarm went off and the guy yanked out his hand cutting himself on the broken glass. Left a huge blood puddle in the elevator, stained my back seat with blood, and left a trail of blood in the garage ....couldnt trace it unfortunately However from the looks of it the guy lives in my building,a friend of mine lives in my building and has a 2k1 Corolla. Last year someone broke into it by sticking something between the door handle and sheet metal then opening it from the inside, and what did they steal?.........AIRBAGS! A week or so ago someone tried breaking into my parents 2k1 Rolla EXACTLY the same way......., then a few days later I see yet ANOTHER 2k1 with exactly the same mark.....go figure. I sure hope i find out who the guy is as it wont be pretty! Anyways, sorry to hear you had to experience this as well!
