Quick help needed in cd player installation
Hey guys, I am trying to put my cd player into my 92 se. I'd rather just splice the wires and do it myself rather than bring it to a place, both because of cost and i like to just do it myself anywho... Now I'm havin a hard time with the wiring and color matchup from the harness i have and whats in the max. Anyone know any website i can access that will tell me what colors are what?
you didn't already cut the connectors off did you?
If you didn't, go pay the $15 for the little harness that goes from Nissan female connectors to bare wire and attach that with some crimps or solder or both to the stereo harness.
The colors are pretty much the same on the two and easy enough to figure out... if the harness doesn't come with a diagram

Buying a harness is way easier now and down the road.
Since you have a 92 SE, I assume you have Bose. Please take note that Bose is totally different from normal aftermarket car audio. Each speaker has it's own amplifier and the signal levels are different than normal. If you plan on keeping the stock speakers (and their built-in amps) you should look into getting a line level adapter. I had one from a company called Peripheral and it worked pretty good. Eventually, all of the speakers and/or amps got fried.
I eventually took out everything in my car that says "Bose" except the speaker grills and started from scratch. Most of the members on this board that has an aftermarket head unit also has aftermarket speakers.

unless you want to replace all the speakers in the car you need to do a littje more heres an example of someting you could use. i would personally replace all the speakers, as i did.
Installation Details for your 1992 Maxima
» Because your vehicle is factory-equipped with a special sound system, Crutchfield recommends that you purchase an adapter. This adapter eliminates the need for extensive and time-consuming re-wiring when you install your new receiver. In some cases, not using an adapter will make it necessary to replace the entire factory sound system, including the speakers.
OEM Amplifier Integration v.4 $39.99

Keep mind what is your final goel for your stereo. If you plan on running subs and the works just get a amp for your mids and run all new lines to some new speakers. using the built in crossover on the amp adjust the frequency on the amp with your deck treble and bass at 0. It's better to let your mids play that way they were intended (little to no bass) so you don't cause as much "wear and tear" on them plus cut down on distortion and your subs will do what they are suppose to do play bass. It's sound like a lot of trouble but if you liek to listen to music without one range drowning another it's worth it!!
I have 1 amp going to my mids and another for my subs. The the diffrence in the Mids and high is great, add in bass and the stereo gives me a head ache and a ear ache after awhile. Now that MUSIC!!!
But for your origanal question BY the WIRING HARNESS ADAPTER!!! Heck you can even find them at Walmart. Make sure you get a antenna adapter too!! unless you never listen to radio. But some after market decks require it for a grounding system even though it already has a ground.
I know that all wasn't what you wanted to know but... hay i love loud stereos

^^^^^ lol, and you wonder why so many people can't do some very basic thing, they never read!
on a serious note, yes, do as everyone have said, buy a harness adapter, and an antennae adapter
those two things with a roll of electrical tape or heat shrink tubing + phillips screw driver + wire stripper (scissors or razor blade will do as well) = 50 bucks richer when compared to the "professional" installation.

do you still ahve the factory speakers/ bose sustem in your car.....if you do than yea....that even before a head unit.....why put a head unit in if your speakers will not handle it?
id say replace the speakers ASAP and get your headunit running up to par.
woah. an aftermarket head unit will take lots of work to mate with a bose system. hooking up a powered h.u. to powered (active)speakers will blow 'em in no time. another option you have is going into the front speaker pods and bypassing the amp, just cut it out of the loop. you can do this with the rears to. this will only last you so long though, since bose speakers run on different ohm ratings than your h.u. your best bet is to replace the speakers with new ones, so you no you can't blow **** up. james92se sells speaker pods that modifies front holes in doors to fit 6.5" drivers. and a factory service manual will help you out with all the wire color codes you need.
yes, it is more complicated than just wiring a new harness to the wiring behind the dash. then it will be a matter of time before your speakers go up in flames.
it's not more complicated than that, a harness works fine.......

the ability to ony use a harness varies by the head unit.
some head units are able to work with the amps, others will get fried.
it also depends on if you bypass the amps.
there are lots of variables
