boneyard goodies

$2 admission is worth it when you walk out with a replacement headlamp, a [like new] rubber center console compartment lining (which i didn't have before), new cig. lighter, and an extra aftermarket stereo wiring harness. ok, i'm bored.

Did you go to the U-Pull-It on Foster?

I have been meaning to hit a few of them and see what is out there, but I always get busy with family crap.

yep, they doubled the admission price.. they only had 1 3rd gen in the whole lot, an 89 gxe. it was in great shape though, 112k miles. it looks like a new arrival. the interior was spotless. engine and engine bay spotless, i guess the tranny went out or something, or maybe the timing belt if it's owner neglected to change it. body looked fine. those velour seats are pretty comfortable btw.. pretty sad to kill the 3rd gen @ 112k.

I shop at a U-pull-it near St. Louis about 3 hours away. They have about 4000 cars there. I get stuff to sell on Ebay and things for my projects and still come out ahead after I move items on Ebay. I just wish it was closer. They usually have at least a half dozen 3rd gens....

I got lucky when I did my 5sp swap, found a 91se that had been wrecked in back. Everything else was still there. The other times I've gone there I usually see maybe one or two GXEs. I like how the STL U-Wrench It has all the cars up on blocks, makes it much easier. Just watch out for the large black men in the parking lot trying to sell you ****. One tried selling me a gold necklace for 50$ "It's worth 5 g's, but I just need the money now". It's not in the nicest area, especially if you're a skinny white kid.

I got my clutch at the junkyard for 12$ :P

Man the junkyards over here Kill ya ... THey dont even stay open past 5... Hell by the time Myself and well most people get off work .. The darn yard is closed I am amazed that they stay in Busniess... I think that the only way they stay in busniess is charge 2 bucks cheaper for a starter than the autoparts store LOL :

Back home In MO man the yards where huge and the prices where cheap... here up in wa they try and cram 500 cars on to 3 acres .... well i am done with my rant LOL Glad you got your score ....

Anyone want to see if there's a 5-speed and/or the swap goodies available at one of those yards. There's not exactly many imports in the boneyards in the U.P. If you come across anything, please let me know...I'll arrange shipping!

I like the salvage yards in Dallas but in Arlington and Fort Worth they suck. Arlington junkyards tried to charge me three times the price in Dallas for tails. I've gotten a two digital climate control before and some custom door sills from the Dallas areas. I go to the junkyards frequently so they give me a discount but some places just jack up the price way too much. I went to a place called nissan heaven they had tons of stuff but it was just real overpriced.

I may can come up with everything for the swap minus the tranny, but a tranny may be found easier than everything else. I will check into it. It may be a bit before I can get back down there but I will post if I do.
