Transmission problem...?

This is my 1st thread and want to thank you for your help.

I've read that the automatic transmission (1992 Maxima, sorry I don't know the engine but NOT an SE) is not really soft on this model. But mine is weird. When the engine is cold (this morning by example (-10c)) everything is ok, but when the engine is hot and I RESTART the engine, the third gear (the worst) give a kick. I tried to give more gas, less gas, remove the overdrive, switch the power/comfort and nothing better...

PLEASE help me

how would fluid help a burnt clutch, as long as your input shaft seal is good?

definitly change the fluid.....it hurts the tranny sometimes cause the old fluid holds crap which helps the clutches grib..so new fluid will make a slippping tranny slip worse.
but thata not your case.
maybe something inside...
is there a seperate relay for each gear? I heard of the gears not enguaging right because of electronic problems ...maybe get a scanner on it and see what it says?

To the thread starter:
You need to get your transmission fluid flushed and the problem should be helped if not completely solved.

To the guy with a slipping clutch:
Did you make sure to break-in your clutch properly?

did they completely change the fluid? and you could get an atf cooler to help the tranny.

A 5 speed swap isnt that hard, theres info in the stickies.

Hi,
I know I'm a newbie as far as this site is concerned but have been around the block with a nissan or two.
The guy with the auto trans acting weird "The automatic"- If and I mean if you put tranny honey it and it happens to help at all WHICH I HIGHLY DOUBT" all you are doing is a very short term fix to a serious problem.
The reason why your your tranny is working fine cold is because of the fluid temp and viscosity- cold fluid means thicker fluid, which does not bypass seals and bad clutches as quickly, giving you the feeling of a good trans, once warmed up the fluid easily bypasses seals which brings on lower pressure to your clutches causing your problem.
Your proper fix is to overhaul or replace with used - depending on the extent of damage in your current trans once torn down.

and your engine is a VG30E
