I know the single best mod to a Max is a Ypipe...then a CAI. But what about after that?

I was thinking about replacing the whole exhaust, but the more I read up on things, the more I dont think I need to.

How much HP would I actually gain, FWHP, if I replaced....

Just Y pipe?
Y pipe and CAI?
Y pipe, cat back?
Y pipe, B pipe?

Im sold on the WSP Y pipe and CAI...but then what?

My next choice would be a Underdrive Pulley all the way...Nismo87se really knows his stuff and told me that an UDP is better than exhaust.

Forget exhaust even if you get the Greddu , HKS full cat back system, you wont notice the diff, At first I had a Greddy exhaust I sold it after 2 weeks because it was just a waist of money. then i put a muffler and all it did was make the car really loud and noise, no big gains, I added a Y-pipe some gains, BUT when i just took the Catolitic-Converter out and put a straight pipe... MAN, I def gained high end hp. You can really feel the difference. And you have the amazing sound like a v8 stang or something but you do loose low end torque but no biggy, add the UD pulley and I gurantee ur max will be pulling faster then any other max with a filter and exhaust. (GO FOR THE STRAIGHT PIPE dont waist money on anything else like i did all this exhaust doesnt really help. Because the catalotic converter take up anywhere from 5-10% of your engine hp. So do the math.

You also won't pass emissions. And the fine for no cat is upwards of $500 I believe...

I know about the emission, but my friend works in a shop, I have that all worked out. As far as the fine? I dont think the cops will stop me and lift my car and look if i have the catback or not.

You also get towed and impounded as well..

not a fun night at all!
they donlt need to jack the car up, they use those mirrors on the long stick to see under your car.

towed and impounded? damn that sucks, but in NY, my friend on a mustang got caught without cat and he got $250 fine and they gave hime 15 days to replace it. The laws here are not that bad!!!

Hmmm. my buddy with a 5th gen civic coupe had a straight pipe on his. The cool thing about it was that he put the heat shield back on and it was good to go. Looked exactly like the cat.

DO IT . Im telling this is the only Mod and the UD pulley that i actually feel the diff of the car. My car never went faster after 5200 rpm now it flies till 6000. I peel on 2nd gear every time.

Man, Im gone 1 day and 14 replies!

There are no emission testing here in Nebraska. Thats good to hear about the cat-back...I might save a lot of money there. My exhaust is pretty bad. The muffler is pretty rusted, I need to get the manifold studs replaced...etc.

How bout...

Ypipe, gutted catty, stock muffler? Then CAI and UDP.

Where can I get UDPs? Straight pipe? Im looking to do the Ypipe myself...the straight pipe seems easy enough.

Blu Max that is impressive that you run 15's with an auto. What else do you have and if you put your Y on you will definately be running low 15's.

You can buy an UDP from either www.unorthodoxracing.com or www.ASPracing.com

I am definately in for a VE though. You will have to call www.aspracing.com they are the only ones that carry UDP for a VE.I was actually going to buy this weekend that passed but I had to buy another fish tank.Call and ask them if they will it should be like $120.00 reg. even it you get the price to like $110.00 it is still a good deal.I am definately in.

I would be down for a UDP for a VG. I think www.aspracing.com is prototyping one for the VG, but so far, the only company that makes them for VG's is Unorthodox Racing (Courtesy sells them for about $190 w/o belts). For VE's, aspracing is the only place. There might be enough interest to get a group buy going. I think it might be more worthwhile to wait for aspracing to come out with theirs though (for us VG guys). That'll be sweet: UDP and y-pipe hopefully this summer.

What about Stillen?

I know they want $219...but at least its an option for a G/D. They dont provide the belts either.

Well i guess we'd have to get 2 seperate group buys, i think we need 2 responsible people, one for VG guys and one for VE guys. I think Steelin should be out of the question be cause he probably won't give up a good enuff deal to beat out the original price of the other two companies.
or if someone is kind enuff to do 2 group buys then we could do that, but i think it would be better to do 2 seperate people.

I really wish ASP had the one available for the VG.But they dont and that sucks. But I am kind of in a hurry to get one maybe we should just see how many VE owners we can get and see if it would be worth it or not.I dont know if Blu Max wants to lead the GB but if he doesnt I would be willing to get a hold of ASP and ask them for a breakdown in pricing.
