ignition cylinder is dieing....

When I turn the key to start and let go. It should staying running. But some times, if it get touched it'll kill the car. There's a little play in with the key, so i know the cylinder is just dieing.

Anyone dealt with replacing an igntion cyliner before?

I know the ones I sell are the whole thing with the electrical switch and they're $$
you'll probably have to replace it all.
or you can try to pull just the cylinder and have a locksmith see if he can fix it

I replaced mine a couple months ago. I bought used off the site here from someone. The worst part is that the cylinder looks like it is rivited onto the steering wheel, and I think the book even talks about it as such. In reality, it is screw. What I ended up doing that worked really well for getting it on an off was to drill the top of the screw cap and pound a small torx bit into the hole I drilled. Then the screws just came right out. When you put the new one in, just use the old screws again.

wow interesting. My dads friend replaced mine and he used to work on these cars all the time. he was telling me he had no clue how to put a used one on because they just cut the old one off, and the new one had a one time attachment deal.

If you read the service manuals, you would think that. Once he cut one off, he should have realized how it went together.
