Can you provide a write-up?? You had a trans plate made? Are you 5-speed or auto? How much in parts, mounts, and all the other little things cost?

dmontzsta Jan 1, 2006 01:38 PM

no way I'd put that kind of time into a max.
I've got another car to put $$ into

dmontzsta Jan 1, 2006 02:14 PM

Are you going to get rid of the ABS in order to run the S/C?

i dont kno if i want put it in but yea i will have to take out the abs to have enuff room for it . but an turbo is perfect for this set up becuz the olds VE motor was bigger and heavier then DEK so now i got lots of room but i dont need any of those now i like my current set up n/a monsta

honestly iam more than please with the outcome of the power that car produces and the amount of torque it puts out. the car hasn't been dynoed yet thou but I am surprised that this wasn't tried long ago but after the long and tired research its done and we are happy with the results.

MrGone Jan 1, 2006 02:25 PM

wait, your saying a Turbo is better for an open deck aluminum block?

I thought about putting a VQ35 in mine for about 3 seconds, then decided to sell my car

still, nice job, I can appreciate the work. I'd be nice to see pics of the mounting and such though.

go by the room from the motor it will be better to put a turbo becuz i dont think the s/c will fit in by the abs and i not takin it out

Maxima-4DSC Jan 1, 2006 04:41 PM

thats the coolest thing ive ever seen. im glad someone FINALLY did a motor swap into a 3rd gen. All thats left is stuffing a 3.5 in hu ? ill wet my pants when i see that one.

Scope Jan 1, 2006 04:47 PM

All I want to know is are you gonna supply more info to this swap. I can obtain a shell quite easy up here to have as a spring project.

diiesel21 Jan 1, 2006 05:20 PM

if you want info on the swap pm question I will answer

tripleGmax Jan 1, 2006 05:58 PM

congrats man, awesome...just awesome.

Cliff Clavin Jan 1, 2006 06:08 PM

Looks good. A round of applause all around for getting this done.

One thing I would like to say part of the reason behind this forum is to help each other out. When someone does something new, useful or figures out a modification they use this forum to share with others, not to say "maybe or maybe not" on helping others.

Unless you plan on patenting this process and doing every swap yourself, it would be appreciated that you take some time to do a write up so that others may be helped along the way. Eventually, others will add things they learn and the whole process might be simplified. This could be something that more people are able to do (with your help), much like the 3.5L into the 4th gen swap that is becoming much more common.
