G/F just got herself a 3rd Gen!!

So my girlfriend bought an 89 SE 155k...fully loaded unless there's options I've never heard of. Car needs a tranny cuz its starting to slip but that should be a piece of cake since her dad has been working on cars for 30 years... Body is pretty decent although the hood is slightly bent and missing a little bit of clear coat but thats no biggie, I can prob get a mint hood for under 40 bucks so we dont care. Her dad was the one that decided that the car was worth getting even though the tranny was bad. Everything is good, engine still strong, axles are all good, and all other main stuff is fine. Car will be getting all essential maintenance work done and will be running like a champ in a month or so.. I'm guessing my girlfriend will be the first and or only girl in the 3rd gen forum.

Guys I'd like to introduce my g/f MissMaximoose and her car Scarlet

Nope. not quite. We've had a few, our latest traded hers after some tranny issues I believe.

Btw... you're right, it's a passion. It becomes an obsession if you're going on your 2nd set of performance rotors. Welcome to the org Missa.

COMPLETE set of Brembo slots possibly for sale in the next month or so. I have to check their condition first.

Aye, I've broken the timing belt and drop my motor out of the car and the sucker still runs with only 212k on the clock.

Doesn't look like there's any snow in Chicago. Oh well, it'll make getting around a bit easier when I come down for the auto show!

So 95GLEMAXX is telling to give my g/f my Maxima and keeps hers for a 5 speed swap for myself...made me think but I dont know, I've already spent $945 in maintenance work (not counting visual repair like the rims or new rear centerpiece) on my car since I got it in September and I doubt she'd dig it. What do you guys think about that?

I dunno man. That sounds like potential for a lot of problems if things don't work out with the two of you down the road (not that I'm saying they wouldn't, but you're both still young yet). Keep it simple, you keep your Max and let her keep hers, but of course help her with it in any way you can.

Good luck!

Easiest thing to do is 5 speed your car and put your good tranny in hers. Oh and take my trannys for spares too

Nope, she wants to keep her car and wants it auto..oh well, I like my car anyway, I was just wondering since it was suggested and it did make me think a bit but I'll just wait for a different chance.

Now that I'm here, I was at work yesterday and checked out the brakes for 89 SE and 93GXE and there seems to be a difference in brake pads and calipers in the rear do any of you know if thats accurate or do they share the same everything when they're both 4 disc brakes?

the 89 and up to a certain month in 90 had a different bracket for the brakes. That is how Matt came up with the rear big brake kit. I dont know if the pads and stuff are different though.
