Does it ever end ???
So I finally get the car road worthy just two days ago. It's got new tires, lots of tune up parts, even a new interior (courtesy of my parts car), and now she wont ever drive again.
After driver to and from work I get home yesterday go inside to grab a few things to wash the car with. Come back out side and hear a grinding noise when I turn the key. Ok,starter is loose again,no biggy...Go to tighten the ONE bolt I have to hold the damn thing on. Only to get a slow steady turn and nothing more so it looks like I looking for a new tranny. Not only are BOTH bolt holes stripped to hell and back. But I don't have 3rd and 4th is a luxury. Not to forget the clutch assembly needs to be welded in place,rack is gone,both axles need replacing and the hub bearing sound like nothing short of a freight train...does it ever end ?

You DON'T need a new tranny just because you stripped out the aluminum threads. I had to fix a blown out spark plug. I fixed it with the head on

What you need to do is either buy a heli-coil kit or preferably an INSERT kit. I got mine from NAPA. But most places have them.

I hear ya brother! my 1990 just quit on me, and had multiple probs:
Battery drained, starter quit, and fuel pump problem
I just got done having a cylinder injector replaced last fall....
That said, I like the darn thing and have no desire (or cash) to do any serious car shopping!
