Cigarette lighter port wire

was wonderng if somone could tell me the wire colors for the cigarette lighter port and which wire goes to which terminal. I accidental stripped the wires out too much on mine so now i have to make my own plug for the time being. Or does it even matter which wire goes to which terminal? I've tested the cigarette lighter and it seems to work either way, but I'm worried about other applications like car chargers.

lighter polarity

You need to get the polarity right for things like car chargers. Tip is positive, shell is negative. It should be pretty obvious which wires go to the lighter socket parts. If you don't have a multimeter to check polarity, post again for more help and I can see if wire colors are in my FSM or try to pull the faceplate off and look tomorrow.

Good luck.
