What size are the speakers in the front? would it just be better to fab up a new mounting plate instead of the bose "amp" or do i have to fab on up? let me know

Thanks

I didn't feel like making baffles and had an extra set of housings so I figured why not

It requires some cutting, trimming, and test fitting but it's pretty easy.

I personally don't do stuff I can't undo unless I have spares or absolutely have to. With my first Maxima I built baffles for and had the stock housings left over so I figured meh, why not. Then again if the Bose is shot, chances are you aren't going to use the stock stuff again so it's something to consider if you are hesitant to cutting them up.

Damn people use the search function. 4x6 in stock housing for "Active Speaker" (ie non-bose) those with bose have 4in in the front but you can make your own housing for a 6.5. Or let James92SE do it. Mr. Gone I do like your idea though, also is that Cage in Gone in 60 seconds?

You can PM James92SE.

I think for $35 (maybe more now) he will make custom mounting brackets for either 6.5" (recommended) or 5.25" speakers that replace the Bose pods.

James' brackets work flawlessly and I recommend them. I have had a set in my car for almost 3 years now with my Diamond Audio 6.5s.

If you don't want to spend the money, I would do just what MrGone showed in post No. 2.

i have an jame's baffles that i don't use since i don't drive a 3rd gen anymore. i'll sell them to you cheap. let me know if you're interested.

but yeah, stock speaker sizes are 4x6 for non-bose, and 4" with the bose. either way, you'll be happier from retrofitting a 6.5" up front.

6 1/2 in front and 6x9 in the back. That's what I would put in it if you are replacing them. But stock they are 4"

when i bought my 1991 SE, it had the stock bose in the front, but they werent connected, so they were blown i assume, the rears were aftermarket... i put in 6 1/2 inch in the front and 6X9 in rear... my 1992 had 4" blaupunkt and sony 6x9 in rear.. the 4" you could barely hear them.. so i put my 6 .5 inch pioneers in the front, and what a big *** difference!!!

Had to make custom brackets for the front (plyboard works wonders), so now I have 6 1/2s all around (originally "Active Speaker" system)

You can fit 5.25" in the front on a non-bose if you dremel the back piece out of the plastic cup the front speakers sit in, just make sure your speaker magnet isn't too deep, because it will be sitting right beside the window when it rolls down
