need help with transmission

Hey guys. I don't frequent this forum much but i need some help. I just moved out here to texas ( denton ) and i want to go see this maxima in haltom city. Here's the specs on the beauty.

Car: 1990 nissan maxima
Price: Asking $1100 cash
Color: Silver/Black
Trans: Auto

Now it says this in the comments verbatim

" car runs and drives, the overdrive needs to be fixed ( common with these old maximas ). engine is in perfect order the inside is clean, paint and body in good shape. only asking $1100 cash. "

My question is, is the overdrive problem going to be a hassle ? I mean, you can drive without the overdrive right ? But how reliable will this be. This is going to be my only car ( i can use my gf's but it would really cause a problem if i switch my hrs working ) so i need this car to last without any major problems ( i.e. transmission ).

Would you guys do it ? Here's the link if anyone wants to check it out.

TIA

i would say stay away... since overdrive is gone, the other gears will probably be soon to go also

if OD is truly gone stay away.
I'd look at the switch first

The transmission is about to die. Its worth about $200-300. Id say get it if its in nice shape, and toss a junkyard trany in and drive it easy...

but the junk yard tranny may not be workign right, there is no way to test it... if you can get the car cheap, buy it and sell it for parts
