Windshield wipers and armrest!

To start, the windshield wipers don't seem to work on the variable setting, only on the last two settings. I checked all the fuses inside and they are all good other than the AC which I am about to replace in a few minutes. I asked someone at the Nissan Dealership and they said it would probably cost $100+ to repair. I know if someone could just give me a simple set of directions and an idea on I should be trouble shooting/what parts I might need that would be sweet.

It was working just fine until I went back to hook up the rear speakers which work great now. I took out the back seat to realize that the power wires that went straight to the old Bose amp had been chewed through (long before I got my car) and since I wasn't going to use them, I put shrink wrap tubing around them so they weren't exposed. None of them touched or anything, but for some reason, when I did that it blew a few fuses which I replaced. Ever since then, no variable windshield wipers...

Also I am kind of getting sick not having a cup holder, so my last question was if it is possible to take the armrest portion off of a 4th gen and replace it in my 3rd gen. They look about the same size and the positioning looked about right, so if I wanted to do this, how much work am I going to be looking at?

EDIT: Just replaced the fuse to the AC. Turns out the clock and the variable wipers BOTH run off this fuse. Now....the armrest?

If you don't have a double din radio you could put in a ford taurus cupholder to solve that problem. Sorry I don't have a better pic. I also have two for sale if you'd like. They go where your old crappy cupholders are or the pocket.

Thanks, and it is a good idea, however it just doesn't fit my needs. I would then have drinks in the way of my stereo which is what brought up my interest of the 4th gen maximas armrest cupholder. Moves the Ebrake from taking up so much room. I just think it is a much nicer luxery to have and don't think it would be too much work to get it done. Just curious if anyone has ever done this before or knows anything about it.
