what is this plug???
what is this plug???
my radiator fans never kicked on, and i finally cracked my radiator trying to get home today (overheating badly)..... my fans dont kick on and i never found out why....... is this plug have something to do with those fans??? this is the VE motor


i thought knock sensor was on rear of the motor....... this is near the front..... it is part of the wiring harness...not the motor.. it is a plug.... i just dont see what it goes to.. th car runs without it, but i thought it was somethign to do with my radiator fans b\c they dont work at all

Just look for the matching end of that plug in that area....It's there, just loooooooook...

Well right now you have a whole bunch of power loss with a crappy tranny..fix it first,then worry about the plug...

knock sensor is located on the top of the block, below the intake manifold and coolant crossover pipe (the valley between the heads).
Also check and clean the coolant temp sensor connectors on the manifold and test them.

Knock sensor connector
That wire is for connection to the subharness coming from the knock sensor under the manifold. The other end usually is attached to a sheet metal mount attached to the front of the thermostat housing. The subharness snakes out from under the manifold below where the temp sensor or fuel pressure regulator sit. Perhaps someone yanked out the subharness or bypassed the knock sensor. If the knock sensor is not attached and you are not using premium, this could be a factor in your overheating.

the accesories like power steering and alty are located on the front side of the motor. the plug you are inquiring about is on the rear.
