Dashboard light problem

So I was just driving to Mcdonalds to pick up some food when about half away there I look down and my whole dash is pitch black and I don't know what to do. I come up to a red light and when I braked the dashlights lit up but as soon as I released the brake everything died again. I ate and thought about what it could be maybe I blew a fuse or rattled something loose with my rally driving and loud system and being the non car-techy type I can't see anything wrong when I poped of the fuse box lid or looked under the hood, all the wires were connected.......
On the way home nothing lights up when I brake and I haven't had any electrical problems with my max at all so this is a first. Any help is appreciated.

fuse blew for the taillights. normally caused by a short at the taillight bulb

none of the fuses under the dash are blown? i know my fuse blew and the fuse that controls dash is linked with the tails also, check for if there no metal from the end of the light bulbs touching the sides of the tails , metal + metal = bad.

In my case it was the license plate lights. Don't forget to check those.

did you fix it?
check the dash fuses, check the license plates bulbs, check the rear tail light bulbs and taillight assembilies. Also I remember that sometimes the brake wiring itself can short, and therefore you get dash lights when the brakes are applied.
