Argh! Just Missed the Deal of the Century!

Sold my 90 Max Se last fall and have been looking for another project car since. I've been driving a BMW 535i since, but missing my Maxi.
Anyway, was driving home from work yesterday and spied a 94 GXE on the back lot of a used car dealer.
Gray, with gray cloth. Body was PRISTINE, but filthy - leaves under the hood, lots of tree crap on the paint, but the paint was fine underneath. Missing two mags, spare tire on one wheel, some mongrel steel wheel on another... missing antenna, trim pieces, some inside trim..
but NO rust, and the engine looked OK. then I checked the odometer: only 54K original miles!
Went in to talk to the owner and he said it was a customer car - a guy had just bought it for his daugher for $150 (!) and he was going to put it back together for him.
DAMN DAMN DAMN DAMN. So, I left my name and number in case parts get too expensive for the guy, hung my head, and left.
By the way, the engine and tranny were fine, too. Damn.

Yeah, cheap money. I don't know what the story was, but someone had definitely been picking parts off it.
Still, no rust and it was driven there under its own power.

I think it had been parked at someone's house, neglected, and someone "helped themselves" to the parts.
At any rate, it was parked with 54K.
Went by yesterday PM. Still there, hasn't moved. I'm going to stop in again Monday PM and pester. With my checkbook.
