Engine Rebuild?

Ok so I dont know enough about cars to do this myself but I have a guy that will rebuild my engine. At 175k I burned out a valve and decided to get this done. It has been 6 months this guy has had my car and I want to make sure everything is done to it that needs to be. I dont know exactly what needs to be done so maybe ya'll can tell me a list of stuff that should be done? Also remember that I am a college kid with next to no money. So let stay about as cheap as can be. Let me know what you guys think.

A college kid with no money a burnt valve on a VE is like mixing oil and water, they don't go together. Sounds like you're asking this question six months too late. A mechanic has had your car for six months and you still don't know what needs to be done? Let me ask you this, have the mechanic told you what needs to be done?

that and you should have just bought a used VE. A JDM one or used one in the states, both alot cheaper then the rebuild.

I think thats what I may need to do. Just get an engine that runs ok or get one already done up sounds better. Hey brian let me know if you have got a engine for sell or know of someone that does

JDM worked for me

Just a note that althouugh there is a significant element of "spin the wheel, hope for the best.." , you can get a VE straigtht off the boat from Japan for around $600 in Toronto. I did this, had it put in (cheap if anyone wants the guys number) and that thing has run absolutely perfectly. The car just flies. Gotta love the Ve30de. I think I'd do that anyday over a rebuild. Perhaps if I had the skills to rebuild....? One nore thing... no ticking!

buy a used engine and call it a day.

and if your mechanic has already had the car for 6 months and hasn't finished the job, you need to take it somewhere else.... IF you can even get it off his lot without paying him about $1800 in storage fees. they usually charge anywhere from $15 to $50 a day for storage once it's been there a week.
