Simple Question

So, my automatic tranny gear selector is a little bit off. To get it to engage into drive, I have to go a little bit past D and then back. I think this is a simple cable adjustment issue. How to I adjust the cable? Is it under the car, under the lever area? Or somewhere else? Chilton's manual is very vague...

Most likely, the shifter linkage is missing this plastic washer, found under the car. It's common for the washer to wear and fall off. The part is only a couple of bucks.

Here's the P/N: 34552-D4000, actually called an "Insulator"
