It doesnt seem like America will be switching to the metric system anytime soon.

However, I wanna stop using my dad's tools and buy a complete set of my own.

However, I noticed that on wrenches they have metric or SAE.

Which one should I buy? I just wanna have a complete nice set of long lasting tools.

Well the maxima uses metric. If you were smart u would buy a machanic wratchet set from sears or somewhere. My 148 set is perfect. Both metric ans SAE

As he said, your car has almost ALL metric parts. (spark plugs are about the only exception I can think of).

But IMO, the best thing to do would be to buy a decent sized set of english and metric tools and a good toolbox... then if you don't have a tool you need for a project, go buy it, or buy a small set of stuff with it in it. nothing wrong with having a couple 14mm sockets. on several projects with the car, you'll need to use them in pairs anyway.

I got kicked out of my dads tool box last year. Just go buy a small set of each. And just as Matt93GXE was saying each time you need a tool go buy it. Or whenever you have a few bucks get a new tool, just like you would buy a new mod when you get some extra cash. You would be surprised how much easier it is to install all your mods when you have a nice selection of tools.

A modest sized set with both is a good idea. like Matt said. But, you can take apart 3/4's of a Maxima with a 10mm socket and wrench!

Try to go to a pawn shop and get some Craftsmen by Sears. That way if anything breaks, you can just return the tool at Sears for free/no questions replacement. You can get alot more for your $$ used. At pawn shops, remember you can negotiate the price. 1/2 of new or lower!

Go to Sears and buy a Metrinch set. The wrinches will fit BOTH SAE and METRIC.!!! Woohoo!!! You could also buy a "Gator Grip" off of T.V. or at Wal-Mart. One socket for all applications.
