Bad dont know what happened yet!

Driving home made it all the way to my driveway, then my car suddenly stalled and halted in gear. tried to start it back up and felt like the engine had seized. .. opened the hood, saw lots of oil, dripping everywhere. the timming chain jumped/broke a sprocket or something worse, blew a hole near the water pump. the plate? .... the chain is hanging out wtf.. i've never seen anything like this.. 93 maxima se dohc ve30de , 5 speed bad inputshaft bearing and *&^@*^$ chain/cam/ ??? soon to be determined , 8 month old leather katzkin seats... still deciding if i'm going to piece it out or sell. moving on.....

anyone ever seen this? "picture to insert here"

damn. the chain blew a hole out of the cover? i think that's a fairly common problem. it sounds like more than that though, i think usually the chain gradually wears a hole in the cover. chain shouldn't be hanging out or anything. is is pearl and do you live close to me by any chance? i'll buy the front end if so.

Blew a hole in cover

I never opened up the engine to get final "cause of death" afterwards, but my mechanic thought the chain broke or skipped a tooth or two. Engine had 300,000km. Oddly the VTCs never ticked on that engine, and were aparantly never rebuilt. Makes me think perhaps changing the chain would have been a good idea....

Don't feel to bad about the engine dying..It had alot of miles on it and probably served you well...Most engine are lucky to see 200,000 before they hit the junkyard....

My ve is about to hit 300,000 miles...
