Cattman explained it really well.....

but IMO $1200+ is more than I'd ever spend for ANY suspension setup...but if you do go ahead with it, more power to you!

Re: Cattman explained it really well.....

1200+ is not that bad if you think about it. No more worries for winter or bad roads. I set of konis and eibach are not cheap either.

Interested, yes.. Possible? no.
the rear suspension design on our cars prevent us from getting coilovers at any decent price.

but if they were to make it for $1200, I'd definitely be interested.

then again, what Brian was saying if I read it correctly) was that the 3rd gen system would be $1200 MORE than the 4th gen system..

a pair of camber plates is about $500 for good ones, correct? Well in order for a 3rd gen system to be designed correctly, you'd need a set for front and rear. that's $1000 in camber plates alone. THEN you have to worry about $500 in shocks, and another $500 in springs.. Then add a couple hundred for perches and custom work to get things to fit, and you're well into the $2000 range, if not over $3000 after labor and design costs.

If your willing to spend that much money why not just go out and buy two sets of springs/struts. That way you can have your drop in the summer and not as much in the winter. Just keep the spring/strut assembly together and switch them out.

But what about the weekends when you want to run the car at the track, then you turn around and have to haul a carload full of luggage/children. or if it's raining on the day you're going to the autocross... need more suspension travel. THAT'S what coilovers are for.. they're constantly adjustable for a different ride and different handling. just jack the car up, and twist the spring perch a few times and you're set.

if you just had 2 sets of struts and springs (and Intrax are NOT good for track springs!), you'd only have 2 settings, and you would still have to spend an afternoon switching things over each and every time you wanted a different ride.

Yea I know what the true purpose of coilovers is. But remember most people here don't even know what an autocross is, let alone need to mess with the corner weights. Most people get them so they can get a 3" drop yo.

If one 3rd gen max from cali gets it done can they fabricate from that one S/C and make S/Cs for us on the East Coast

I'm in Oregon, and I drive down to Cali pretty often...if people are willing to help me cover the cost of the SC design if they want the fabrication plans I'll do it
